Overview

The Newfoundland Coast Guard plays a critical role in the maritime security and safety of the Republic of Newfoundland. Operating under the Ministry of National Defence and Security, the Coast Guard’s mission encompasses search and rescue, environmental protection, hydrographic and ice patrols, and the maintenance of navigational aids. It also supports civil authorities during emergencies, defends territorial sovereignty, and engages in joint operations with allied nations. Enhanced by modern technologies such as Maritime Patrol Aircraft and UAVs, the Coast Guard maintains a vigilant presence in Newfoundland’s waters and the Arctic region, ensuring readiness and resilience in varied maritime domains.
