Overview
The Newfoundland Army is the land warfare component of the Newfoundland Armed Forces, responsible for territorial defence, Arctic operations, and support to civil authorities. Operating from three garrisons across Newfoundland and Labrador, the Army maintains professional infantry, artillery, armoured, and engineering units.
The Army’s garrisons are named after distinguished officers of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment who served in the First World War, honouring the military heritage and sacrifice of Newfoundlanders.

Army Garrisons
- Fort Hadow, St. John’s – Named after Lieutenant-Colonel Arthur Lovell Hadow (first CO of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, 1914). Army headquarters, capital garrison, and home of the 1st Newfoundland Brigade Combat Team
- Fort Rowley, Goose Bay – Named after Lieutenant-Colonel Richard Rowley, DSO (commanded after Beaumont-Hamel). Northern garrison, Arctic Warfare Training Centre, and Labrador defence command
- Fort Forbes-Robertson, Grand Falls-Windsor – Named after Lieutenant-Colonel James Forbes-Robertson (commanded at Beaumont-Hamel, July 1, 1916). Central garrison, Combat Training Centre, and logistics support base

- 1st Newfoundland Brigade Combat Team – Main combat formation based at Fort Hadow
- Royal Newfoundland Regiment – Historic regiment maintaining ceremonial and operational roles
- Royal Newfoundland Artillery (RNA) – Field artillery, air defence, and coastal defence batteries
- Royal Newfoundland Armour (RNAR) – Mechanized reconnaissance regiment
